What can I expect?
At Accenture, learning is accessible. We provide ongoing support via online personal development tools. As your career unfolds, 'self-directed learning' is available to you online to enable you to take increasing control of your development and empower you to decide where you want to focus your career. During your first year, you may even be seconded to Job Readiness training - specific instruction that will equip you with extra skills for a particular project.
We want you to develop quickly, and we provide the support to help you to do exactly that. It usually takes 10-12 years to become a Senior Executive, although exceptional people get there earlier. Rest assured that there are plenty of opportunities to progress and to challenge your thinking. But it’s up to you to make the most of them.
Career Counselling
Every employee has a dedicated career counsellor. This is your key contact when it comes to making your career goals happen. Every year, you and your career counsellor draft your Personal Development Plan - a vital tool in ensuring that your career stays on track.
Your career counsellor has a genuine interest in your career and will help you to identify which projects will benefit you most in terms of skills and experience. They will guide you, check your progress at regular intervals, and work with you to ensure that you reach achievable goals. You'll also have more formal annual reviews in which your performance is appraised, and reward and promotion recommendations are made.
Mentoring
We place enormous value on mentoring within the workplace. Learning on your feet is a powerful method for development, enabling you to progress your skills. In addition to our traditional mentoring relationships, we have launched a specific initiative - our UK Mentoring for Women Programme - honouring our commitment to increase the representation of women across the UK organisation. Our goal is to ensure that our managers and senior executives have an effective mechanism in place for improving the retention and advancement of women in all our divisions.
Performance Management
Several people will have a role in your performance management process. They include project supervisors, career counsellors, reward assessors - and, of course, you. Together, our aim is to ensure that your contribution and development are recognised. There are significant rewards here for the people with the talent and potential to achieve great things. But we’re democratic about it: the same tools and techniques are used to assess Accenture employees around the world - giving everyone the same chances of success.
