Since my first days at Accenture, I’ve been working for one of the world’s largest provider of domestic and cross-border settlement and related services for bond, equity, fund and derivative transactions. During these five years, I have continuously grown in my job, with each year bringing new and exciting challenges. I started as a mainframe and .Net programmer, then I had the opportunity to become a domain lead and most recently I’ve become involved in project management. As such, I’m responsible for day-to-day project delivery and for coordinating an onshore and offshore team of 10 people. In addition, I’m domain lead for all development of outsourced distributed applications (especially Documentum and .Net applications). It’s a really challenging, but interesting project, which demands giving the best of myself.

I always leave home early to beat the traffic jams. Arriving at 07:00, the office is quiet, so I use this time to go through my mails and check the most important topics of the day. Every morning I have a short status meeting with the team and key members of the client. Throughout the day we work closely with our colleagues in India who execute the coding and testing of all our development work from the Accenture Delivery Center in Chennai. I also follow up the project budget and planning and ensure that any issues raised by the client are addressed. Finally, I’m also a CAT (College Action Team) lead. Via this program we give students an opportunity to discover more about Accenture and what we do in an informal way. All of which makes my job a perfect balance between day-to-day project work and fun activities.

My greatest passion has always been motorcycles. A few years ago I bought a Suzuki GSR600K8 and whenever the weather fine, I go for a ride to enjoy the wonderful and relaxing sense of freedom. I also try to visit the gym several times a week to keep in shape. When the winter season comes around, I head for the slopes in Austria or France for snowboarding or skiing at least once a year… and I’ll never say no to an afternoon of snowboarding at Snowworld in the Netherlands. But I may have less time for that in coming months because my girlfriend and I recently started building our new house. It’s a wonderful experience and a great way to put my project planning skills to another use!

I would advise anyone who has an affinity for informatics to pass by Accenture and have a chat with us. Accenture constantly strives to have the best people working on the best projects. And since it’s a company that operates all over the world, you’ll get to work with lots of different people from different cultures, and this from many locations.
