Accenture is committed to acting as a responsible corporate citizen and making a positive difference. Our philosophy is to “help the helpers” by providing time, skills and financial support to worthy causes.

Some examples: Our employees make high-quality consulting services available to organizations working in developing countries through two separate not-for-profit global programs—Accenture Development Partnerships and VSO Business Partnerships. Volunteers accept assignments in locations where their skills directly benefit local communities. Employees are able to pursue development opportunities outside their career path.

Our local Finnish efforts focus in particular on helping young people and children. Two examples of youth-related efforts: long-term partnerships with the Finnish Red Cross (FRC) and the Ronald McDonald Foundation.

At the Finnish Red Cross, we’re involved in projects related to process design, mentoring and facilitation activities, and more concretely to organizing blood donation and collecting second-hand goods for reuse and donations. We aim to give every employee a chance to take part in the wide variety of the organization’s activities. In addition, Accenture supports the Finnish Red Cross Youth Emergency Shelters—of which there are five in Finland—with annual donations. These shelters provide safe housing, food, help and counseling for troubled teenagers.

The Ronald McDonald Foundation operates three houses for the families of children with life-threatening illnesses. While the children stay in the nearby HUS children’s hospital, their families stay at the Ronald McDonald houses at reasonable rates. Accenture donates funds and manpower to this worthy cause by holding an annual toy collection, cooking for the families of patients and by helping maintain the properties.
